My Legacy.

Over the edge, into the abyss
Now my life's over, what will I miss?
Warm summer sunshine, cold gentle breeze
Making it's music by rustling through trees.
Coal fires burning, their cinders red hot
Potatoe pie cooking in the big brown pot.
Snow scenes that look so crisp,..clean and white
Velvety skies with stars that shine bright.
The sound of the ocean, the cold salty air
Acceptance of fate replaces despair.
Waiting until it's time to move on,
What will I leave when I have gone?
A legacy for my friends left behind
To help the unwanted, be loving and kind.
Helping the breed I worked so hard for,
The Greyhounds, the Lurchers and so many more.
The path won't be easy, the one that I've paved,
Remember me for the Greyhounds I've saved.
Inside you all there'll be part of me
In some way or other, you also will see.
The life that you have is yours, so explore,
Enjoy every minute, your spirits let soar.
For life is a gift from God up above
He made you himself, with care and with love.
